Study Model # 4

When I started doing this study model I was thinking about doing all the sides the same way. But then as I got to the other sides I decided that I do not want my building to have one facade I want it to have different ones. I wanted my building to resemble the Xylophone shape but not in an obvious way. My solution to not end up doin the same thing as the first study models was to transformed the shape of the Xylophone. As i I like to say the Xylophone morphed. Also I want my building to have different levels. I think it would make my design more exciting because my buildings will have different views from the different sides of the site.

CONCEPT

XYLOPHONE

MY CONCEPT FOR THE MIDDLE SCHOOL PROJECT IS THE XYLOPHONE. I ENDED UP CHOOSING THIS MUSICAL INSTRUMENT BECAUSE I WANTED MY BUILDING TO BE COLORFUL AND TO BE RELATED TO KIDS. I STARTED TO LOOK AT PENCILS, STRAWS, AND TRIANGLES BUT THE XYLOPHONE CAUGHT MORE MY ATTENTION BECAUSE IT HAS DIFFERENT SECTIONS, COLORS AND SHAPES. I ALSO LOOKED AT THE MUSICAL NOTES OF THE XYLOPHONE TO SEE IF I CAN GET ANY IDEAS FOR MY DESIGN.

EXAMPLES OF MIDDLE SCHOOLS

THESE ARE SOME MIDDLE SCHOOLS THAT I FOUND IN THE ARCHITECTURAL RECORD CASE STUDY AND ONLINE. AS I STARTED TO LOOK AT THE IMAGES I SAW THAT A MIDDLE SCHOOL DOESN'T NEED TO BE A BOX WITH A FEW WINDOWS. IT CAN BE AN EXCITING AND COLORFUL PLACE WHERE KIDS WOULD BE MORE MOTIVATED TO BE IN SINCE THEY PAST ALMOST THE ENTIRE DAY IN IT.
